A few weeks back I was invited to join my photographer friend Sabrina, along with models Aly and Lorrie, on a shoot they had arranged. Couldn’t say no as they’re some of my favourite people ever to work with. I have no idea where we were… I was just a passenger and not really paying much attention… hence my calling it a secret location. All I know is it was awesome… bugs aside.
They did their thing, and the photos they captured were awesome. Abandoned house with a haunted kind of vibe. You’ll want to check those out on Sabrina’s Facebook Page.
And while Sabrina was working with one, I grabbed the other for some shots in my totally random, off the cuff, impromptu, winging it, kind of style… just with an awesome backdrop to work with.
With Lorrie: The wall of the abandoned home was stone and completely overgrown with vines... just sort of screamed "shoot against me" – to be honest it kind of reminded me of when I was exploring ruins in Italy. Made for an amazing backdrop with her gothic fashion.
However, my favourite came later, when we found a portion of usable collapsed roof. Could not have asked for a better background to go with her hair, outfit, etc. Everything just sort of came together… it was perfect. Winging it is my favourite, and Lorrie could not have looked any better.
With Aly: It’s all about that dress, the backdrop almost doesn’t even matter. For the record, I now think turtle necks can be sexy… something I never thought I’d find myself saying. Aly just killed it here; simply stunning.
We had found this amazing trail near the abandoned house, with a perfect canopy creating the crazy soft light. As far as natural light shooting in mid-afternoon goes – this spot couldn’t have offered me much better. Would definitely use it again, if I had any idea where we were.
